Many of you yo-yo players out there may be familiar with the Gruntbull name because they do some of the best anodizing in our industry. They have worked for some of the top companies in the yo-yo business making beautiful and unique designs, but now they are doing something for themselves. This is the Gruntbull O5!
The name O5 pays homage to the original Gruntbull Orbis; This was the original yo-yo Gruntbull produced back in ’09 and it was kind of a flop. Since that initial release Gruntbull has wanted to create a winning design to redeem themselves, and with the release of the O5 we think they’ve done just that!
The gave the new O5 to several professional level yo-yo players to gain feedback and went through 5 prototyping stages (hence the 5 in the name) to get it just right. The end result is a yo-yo players dream! The O5 hits that sweet spot with a beautiful presence on the string and just the right amount of agility in play. It has a comfortable shape in hand and a weight distribution that offers some great stability and spin time even when switching through off plane combos.
This yo-yo gave Gruntbull the chance to test out a few new techniques too. They implemented a new high tech “hydro-etching” on the surface which gives the O5 a really smooth grind finish that has a softer feel than the standard bead blast. And have you seen the anodizing work on these? We would expect nothing less from Gruntbull, but the Paisley, Plaid, and YoYoExpert patterns are above and beyond what we were hoping for!
The O5 comes with a Terrapin Delta Ceramic Bearing and is fitted with custom response pads (The same diameter as Snowtires and recessed about .015″ thinner) to give the O5 a perfectly broken in feel right out of the box!
