I started this project in January 2011 as a personal challenge: could I keep up with filming and posting an original trick every day for a year? Three hundred and forty nine days later the project has not missed a single day and I was awarded the Trick Innovator of the Year award by the National Yo-Yo Museum and Contest for my work on the site. How could I top that?... READ MORE...
Answer: More players! For the 2012 season of 365yoyotricks.com, I will be joined by five other players, each contributing one trick per week.
Representing YoYo Factory will be myself and David Ung. David's most recent video, "Broke", has over 4,000 views on YouTube and is easily one of the best videos of 2011. David's tricks have an almost mathematical precision, yet his style is incredibly smooth and flowing.
Representing Duncan Toys will be Drew Tetz, accomplished 3A and counterweight player. Drew's creative and remarkably difficult counterweight wraps have blown minds this past year, and made him a strong contender for Trick Innovator of the Year. With his continued pushing of the creative side of counterweight play, 2012 may well be his year.
Representing SPYY will be Ed Haponik and Nate Sutter. Ed's tricks have become the gold standard for modern fixed axle play…deceptively hard to perform but still simple enough for anyone to understand. Ed has given himself a second challenge this year, and will only be throwing a custom wooden yo-yo designed for him by SPYY. Nate has long been one of the most unique and creative players to come out of the American Northeast. His seasicks and repeaters are nothing short of incredible, and with his new location in New Orleans, Nate has finally found a city that can match his natural exuberance.
Our final player on the roster is 2010 National Yo-Yo Champion Sebastian Brock…and we're incredibly proud to be the absolute first to announce that Sebastian will be representing SPYY! It's no secret that Sebby is one of the most creative and effortlessly stylish yo-yo players in the world…his tricks stand in a world of their own and his 2nd Place freestyle in the 2011 World YoYo Contest was nothing short of astounding. We're honored to have Sebby on board, and grateful that he and every else have made the time to be part of this project.
