When people watch me play with a yoyo in public, the usual question is “How long have you been yoyoing?”. I’ve been yoyoing nearly all my life that literally cannot put a pin-point specific date as to when I started. From what I recall, I started to play yoyo around age six or seven. Back in those days Duncan dominated everything yoyo related. I was far too young to really understand how a yoyo could work, so I didn’t take interest in it until “The yoyo boom” hit back in 1998.

During those times, Yomega was so hot X-brains, Duncan was going crazy with the Duncan Neos and Spintastics was putting their Tigershark line out there like crazy. This would of been around 6th grade during elementary school. I caved in to peer pressure to fit in with 0everyone, and it was the best decision I have ever done in my entire life. I decided to get back into yoyoing and bought a neon green Duncan neo. The yoyo boom swept my school, everyone had one surfice to say. But with any boom, people always go towards the latest craze. Yoyos were pretty much outlawed in school so people stopped with it, but because of how frustrated I was with learning tricks, I never gave up with it and literally stuck it through!

Its been a long bumpy road to 2011 when it comes to yoyoing. Back in 1999/2000 I was introduced to the yoyo world via websites like “Sector Y” and “Kens world on a string”. I was introduced to all the tutorials, and I had such high hopes to learning things. I found out about Yoyoguy’s forum and I finally had a chance to speak to fellow yoyoers! The first club I went to was “The chicago string demons” which was a rather popular group in the midwest at the time. First yoyo contest I took part in was The Burlington Wisconsin yoyo contest. In those days that was considered the Wisconsin State contest. I’ve had interesting things happen at those contests, like jumping off the 8 foot stage amidst a 5a trick to literally knocking myself out with a Yoyojam Matrixx via a strike to the head. Many yoyoers also know I used to buy so many yoyos to have an amazing collection, to the point of near obsession. I had once owned up to six to eight Anti-yo BSP’s!

To continue on with this story, the name of “Zammy” did not start to get known until around 2007, where a guy named Alex showed me this unusual style of yoyoing he called “Moebius”. This is literally the beginning of everything. During my time of yoyoing, I tried so hard to make my own stuff and to try and stick out. I didn’t get a chance to go to a lot of contests, I did not have a camcorder, and I was having doubts of myself. I began to fiddle with moebius, and it unleashed every facet of creativity I have had. I’ve put a lot of time and effort to explore this unknown thing, and with that the name “Zammy” also started to spread. Now the entire yoyo world knows me due to being synonymous the style.

2009 was the pinnacle year for me as far as yoyoing goes. That year, I finally won my first contest which was Wisconsin States held in Madison. With the official win, I had a ticket to the finals of Midwest regionals. I recieved my very first and short lived sponsor from Madhouse Yoyos. The dealings with them lead me to get 8th place at MWR 2009 and it was such a blast! With all good things, bad things must occured. My father had a near fatal heart attack, causing a lot of conflict in my life. I quit Madhouse due to what was going on, and I was at my worst. I was near to the point of quitting because my heart wasn’t in it at all, but jumped back in when in October of that year, just like how I began to yoyo, I picked up a duncan freehand two and revitalized me. Ever since of that October until now, I was heavily throwing duncan doing my own thing. I was doing my way, all the way! It spread into 2010, where I even paired up with Yyonation to help make a clip video to promote Moebius even better, and made several clip videos which seemed to really pick up and spread around the world. Several interviews were done which I am thankful for the guys that did that. Heck, someone even made a facebook page on facebook for “Zammy”.

How does this all relate to Onedrop? I will tell you what it is, it relates because it is a dream. When Onedrop first began they had sold the project and it was nearly my most favored throw at the time to the point I really wanted to be on that team. Last year during around the time of Worlds, I had jokingly told Graeme I would love to be on the same team as him as it would of been a major honor. To be honest, I was being very serious of what I told him. Apparently Graeme would take this serious as well, and told David about my interests to be apart of the team. I was given a chance but I was so confused that it has taken nearly 8 months and I’ve finally accepted this absolutely amazing opportunity.

With Onedrop supporting me, all things are possible. Anything is possible. Never give up, Never surrender. Lets take this all to new heights!
