Replicant

The Replicant is the debut signature yo-yo of YoYoFriends team member Matthew Wallsten—a design born from months of close collaboration to capture exactly what Matthew wanted in his ultimate competition throw.

Inspired by his success at ANTE and guided by countless design calls with team leader Philip, Matthew set out to create a yo-yo that balances pure performance with a clean, simple aesthetic. Starting with the refined V/H-shape profile of the Graviton and Netrunner as references, the Replicant was built from the ground up for speed, stability, and power.

Constructed in 7068 aluminum with stainless steel rings, the Replicant packs nearly 20g of stainless steel weight into a compact, competition-ready design. At 56mm diameter, 51mm width, and 66g+, it delivers the commanding stability and spin power of the Netrunner—just in a slightly smaller, faster, and more versatile package.

Prototype testing proved the Replicant to be a true competition beast. Matthew debuted it at PNWR, placing 5th and earning a US Nationals Semi-Final seed. With further podium finishes—including 2nd at the United Yo-Yo Contest—the Replicant has already proven itself on stage at the highest level.

The name Replicant takes inspiration from Blade Runner, a nod to precision, identity, and the fine balance between human creativity and engineered perfection—just like the yo-yo itself. The Replicant is Matthew’s vision brought to life: fast, powerful, stable, and built to dominate on stage.
