It is marketed as a looping yoyo. I have more than 20 years of looping experience. I've looped with many upon many yoyos. The Raider doesn't loop. Some players modify it with spacers or thick lubricants. If it's marketed as a looping yoyo than anyone should be able to take it out of the box and loop with it.

Sure, it's a little finicky and annoying to modify a pair of Raiders, but it's also an essential right of passage for any serious 2a player. Why are they so well regarded? To this day, nothing out there on the market compares to a nicely modded set of Raiders in terms of the combination of long sleep time AND snappy response. It's the only 2a yo-yo out there that does not require you compromise on either. My modded raiders are more prized to me than any other yo-yos in my collection.

The Raiders Starburst diameter is a lot smaller in size compared to other Srarbursts, so it doesn't grab as well and the space between the two halves is too wide which also hampers the response of the yoyo. I like the weight, size and all around feel of the Raider but it needs a shorter axel (which I'm looking for) to make it respond (hopefully) as it should. As of this review, I would not recommend the Raider at this time.
