Lamina α

The Lamina α is part of atmos projects’ first Research and Design release, created to explore how subtle changes in weight distribution directly affect playfeel. Smooth, wide, and floaty at its core, the Lamina was designed as an intentional study rather than a conventional performance release.

The α version features a domed hub with an additional 1.3g of center weight. This results in a smoother, more gradual response during directional changes and a slightly more composed feel on the string. Movements feel less abrupt, with transitions that carry momentum evenly through longer sequences.

Despite its experimental focus, the Lamina α is incredibly fun to play. The wide profile provides excellent stability, while the added center weight gives the yo-yo a calm, settled presence without sacrificing control. It is expressive, comfortable, and uniquely satisfying in motion.

Lamina α is not about chasing a single definition of performance. It is about understanding feel, discovering preference, and experiencing how a small shift in mass can reshape the entire character of a design.
