Four years in the making, the Gem is the first injection molded yo-yo fully produced by UNPRLD, and it might be the most fun twenty dollars you spend this year! UNPRLD built their name on precision competition metals and bimetals, so when they decided to make a plastic they refused to cut corners. Building a mold from scratch is a slow and costly process, but after four years of extensive prototyping the result is a polished, refined plastic yo-yo that can be recommended to beginners and experts alike.

The Gem is molded from polycarbonate with a brass insert at the hub, and the whole design is oversized on purpose. At 60mm in diameter and 54.75mm wide with the weight pushed firmly out to the rim, the Gem works around the limitations of plastic to deliver long spin times and solid, powerful stability you would not expect from a yo-yo at this price. At 66.3 grams it feels light and easy on the string, the kind of yo-yo you can throw for hours without fatigue, but it never loses presence or gets pushed around mid combo. It comes stock with a Size C centering bearing and slim response pads for clean unresponsive play and tight binds.

The finish is a highlight too. Instead of pad printing the logo, UNPRLD engraved the brass insert and then did a final facing pass after engraving for a seamless, polished look that shines through the translucent body. Available in Clear, Green, Amber, and Purple, each one lives up to the name.
