Futura
The latest series from Yoyorecreation is inspired by some famous typefaces. This is the Futura!
The goal of this series was to take the structure and features of the specific font and interpret it into a yo-yo design. The Futura is a sharp and minimalist shape that draws inspiration from the geometric straight lines and curves of its namesake font. The stepped angular profile gives it a fast and competitive feel on the string while the smooth curved cup balances the weight distribution for a pleasant maneuverable play experience.
If Futura was a yo-yo this would be it! A great interpretation on a fun new concept, we can't wait to see which fonts yoyorec will tackle next!

Not a comp throw at 43mm wide, but plenty good with rims relatively wide and a linear rise to them from the gap. If you know the typeface, Futura is a geometric sans-serif, and this angular portion evokes it strongly. The typeface has, of course, round curves as well, and we get that in the cup, as the rim is rounded on the inside.
As someone skilled in graphic design, this is a thoughtful tribute while giving the player a solid throw. It's got good acceleration and plays on the faster side, with moderately high stability given its width. Mine came with long, regular white string which suits the gap.

I mainly got the Futura because of the price drop, but now it's among my favorite monometals. So much about it is a surprise; it's almost like playing a bimetal. It easily has the longest spin time of all my monos, not to mention being the most stable. It has a kind of heft in the hand, almost chunky, but once you throw it everything changes.
The Futura plays oddly light. It's not floaty, but it's fast and easy to move around. It's a strange feeling that makes it especially fun. The finish is perfect -actually perfect- and the anodizing is exquisite. I got mine in Wine Red and have gotten several comments about how nice it looks.
Yoyorecreation did an amazing job with this yoyo. I have more than a few expensive, competition focused bimetals, and the Futura outplays most of them. It's so good that I'm waiting for a couple of the other colors to restock.

This thing spins the fastest out of all my throws, and spins for 8 mins, the shape makes landing very pleasurable. It's the perfect throw except for a tad of bite when doing my style of tricks, It enjoys surprise attacks and demands only experts of throwers ;)
