Clockwork

To celebrate 10 years of yoyofriends, Clockwork was created as a special anniversary model that captures a decade of design experience, experimentation, and evolution. As with past anniversary releases, the goal was to make something meaningful for the community, but for this milestone, yoyofriends set out to create something truly unique.

Clockwork is an ambitious tri-material design featuring a 6061 aluminum body, stainless steel inner rims, and a fully wrapped polycarbonate outer shell. Early concepts explored bold multi-material ideas, but the final design was refined using the proven foundations of models like the Shortcut and Vulture, reworked from the ground up to balance performance, feel, and visual impact. The result is a yo-yo that looks striking while delivering serious spin power.

At over 68 grams, Clockwork is heavier than many modern competition throws, but it does not play heavy. By placing dense stainless steel rims inside lightweight polycarbonate, the weight is distributed in a way that maintains strong spin and stability while preserving speed and flow. The PC outer ring shifts the feel inward, keeping the yo-yo agile and surprisingly quick on the string. The total outer ring mass closely matches traditional bimetal designs, resulting in familiar power with a distinct, modern playfeel.

In play, Clockwork feels fun, smooth, and powerful. It handles long combos with ease, maintains momentum well, and offers a satisfying balance between weight and responsiveness. The name Clockwork draws inspiration from the idea of time itself, a nod to both the brand’s 10 year journey and the character from Ben 10 known for controlling time.
