Cannon Ball
Twenty-two years in the looping scene earns you the right to build a yo-yo exactly the way you want it. The Cannon Ball is the signature 2A model of Ryo Yamashita, 2011 National Champion and World Top 3 competitor, and every design decision inside it traces back to decades of hands-on research into what looping performance actually demands at the highest level.
The defining feature is the aggressive rim weighting via the caps, pushing significantly more mass to the outer edge than C3's Seeker or Initiator before it. That concentrated weight delivers the stable, sustained spin Yamashita needs to power through high-speed, relentless loop sequences without losing momentum. Precision is locked in too: metal nuts embedded at the center of the body keep balance tight throughout the frame. The real engineering story, though, is the spacer system. A metal component clamps the gap width firmly in place while a separate POM ring governs the looping feel dynamically. On a throw or outgoing loop, centrifugal force pushes the POM to reduce friction and let the yo-yo sleep freely. As that force eases on the return, it shifts back and creates just enough friction to pull the yo-yo home. Two opposing behaviors, one spacer, no compromises. Yamashita recommends pairing it with string around T-24 thickness rather than standard thin string, and the Cannon Ball ships with C3 Pro String Normal to get you started.
This is a competition-grade 2A instrument built by someone who has spent over two decades figuring out exactly what one needs to be. Compatibility with C3's 2A Weight Adjustment Stickers (sold separately) gives serious players even more room to dial in their setup for contest day. If you're ready to push your looping to the next level, the Cannon Ball is loaded and waiting!
