One Drop Repairs? Best way to sand out scratches and scuffs?

OK my fav throw my Code 2 also seems to get the worst abuse… I tried repairing some ding earlier… all I really wanted was for it to feel smooth again… I used a dremel with a rotatory sand paper drum on it… It came out smooth but not looking good…

Then just now I slammed it into my desk smashing an ecig, tank, phone and remote, but only knocking a battery cover off the ecig luckly… But Really put a lot of little pock marks on both side of my OD…

Again I just want to get the marks smooth so it feels good in hand, and hopefully plays smooth… what is the best way to do this??? You can see the lousy reapirs I tried to do before… I want to hopefully make them look better or at least make it all feel smooth?

What is best?

Unless you totally remove the finish all you can do is smooth out the nicks. There’s not a lot you can do to repair the anodized finish. Some people have removed it and polished the raw aluminum.

I’d keep the war scars.

I use a metal file to get off any big sharp edges and then sand paper to smooth it out. I have a file that looks like this:

but you can even use the little metal file that some nailclippers have.

You might end up removing a fair bit of ano, but just keep filing and sanding until you get it smooth.

I used the wife’s cheap nail file to get just about all the not smooth edges to feel much better, she is also good at getting knots out of my string, when needed, lol

Worst abuse? lol that’s cute

I’ve been playing around with fixing dings for a while now, I’ve tried filling it with paint of similar color which is ok, and even filling with soldering tin which doesn’t work. I still have one method that I haven’t tried, melting soda cans and filling the dings with it.
Dings is the reason I tend to avoid dark colors, I like bright colors close to silver so that dings won’t be too visible.

This makes me cry…

I remember when they messed up that project, was kinda a statement as to how durable the og project was, and that yoyos are toys. Good times back then.
