A little ILYY

Ah, the Monkey Finger ano’d Lio. Very nice photo.

Probably the last time I’ll bump this. ;D

Given that this is possibly the last time you are going to bump this thread, perhaps you could give us avid admirers the low down on some of these ILYY. Is there any chance you could tell us which you throw the most frequently? I know you had trouble tracking down the Pybit, but are there any of these that are near and dear to you - perhaps because you had to work hard to track them down? Which was the one that made you start collecting?

The only reason I ask these things is because rarely does one see a complete collection. It seems like it must have been a labor of love to put together this collection, and the way you display them suggests that too. So this thread is a perfect opportunity to have a little gush about them. If you don’t mind of course! And given that you’ve presumably thrown all of these you’re in a reasonably unique position to critique them.

Nice to see that;)

This a great collection congrats on finishing

Sorry, guys. I just noticed these replies.
First, thanks DrAwesome. I’m obviously happy with the results.
Second, slowyojoe, I’ll try to remember the history.

The first ILYY throw I got was a 2012 Lio. Probably one of the smoothest yoyos I own. And I instantly fell in love with the candyblast finish. It still rivals any surface treatment I’ve tried on a yoyo. Grinds are a dream. And with that, I began my quest for more. The next one was the Falcon. A challenging throw because of its high walls, but again, super smooth. At this time last year, there were quite a few BSTs created by ILYY fans, and I planned to only get the candyblasted yoyos from them - E1ns, 2wei, Josy Ann, Wasabi, Fury, Lynx, Enigma, Rocket, etc. I wasn’t a big fan of the polished looking candodizing. But then I got a Valve. It was so amazing that it reopened the door to the new Noctu (which is bigger and way better than the candyblasted one for play), Torino, Sakura and Greyhound. All lived up to my expectations.

I think my favorite is the Trvth because I really didn’t think its shape would be conducive to 1A style, but it really is. And I got mine directly from Frank Orben himself. He’s a really nice guy.

But now it’s over and I’m so happy I took the time to find them all. The ones I play the most are the Nile and the Fury. The Fury is still the best H-shape I’ve ever played.

Happy throwing guys! ;D

If you let this thread die I’ll be forced to harasse you quite frequently.

The ILYY colors all together in the pics have given me some inspiration on more than one occasion. Just love their product, some of the best ano on the market if not the best.

Ok, Bob.
For you, I’ll take better pics and include individual shots. It’s true, these look amazing in the sun.

Coming shortly.

Congratulations!
I don’t  like particularly ILYY but no doubt You have a very beautiful collection!!!
I don’t want to be bad  consider it an encouragement to continue, but if we are still missing a little yoyo interesting to your collection.
Could be the one noctu pearl … one of the few ILYY in ergal (7075 alu), different spec to final release, limitation 1 of 20 (this is mine).

Then, always ergal and always noctu… the first release with  the asymmetric bearing housing (limitation 1 of 20)

Success!

I’ve changed the pics and added some new throws to my collection. Thanks to all who have shared their ILYY pics. It’s cool to see the other versions of ILYY models out there. I think the ones I would love to have are the engraved Noctu and the Batman Noctu. I wonder if that will ever become a reality. (hint, hint)

Hey Mike what’s the blue one in the bottom row with the fat flat rims?

Hey Bob,
That’s the Pybit. I still remember promising you better individual shots of each yoyo, so I still plan on doing that. But here’s a link to the ILYY site for the Pybit so you can get a better idea. You’d think this guy would be tough to play with such high walls, but it’s loads of fun.  ;D

Here you go, Bob! I just managed to pick one up. I will bring it by for you when the weekly contests/meets start up again in july.
I was hoping these pictures came out better, oh well. Maybe I will take more later. :stuck_out_tongue:

One thing I find VERY unique about the Pybit other than the high walls and insane width is the depth of the bearing damper (I thik that’s what it’s called.)
