Flow

How do you define flow? Besides smooth or … flow-y. I kinda know if a trick flows or not when I see it, but how do you make a trick flow and how do you make your playstyle more smooth?

Record yourself a lot and practice till you can do the trick with your eyes closed and without hesitations.

Flow in my eyes is when each element blends together nicely without pauses, and don’t appear ‘forced’. Lot of it has to do with direction of the yoyo.

I’d say: be ahead of the yoyo.

You know the path of the yoyo and you wait for it to follow its path, not the other way around. You don’t watch it to know if you messed up, you just know you did right (at least, you look like you know). You don’t follow the yoyo or the string with your eyes, you just know where it is at every single point.

IMHO, what makes a good flow is when you put the string where the yoyo should land before it’s even in the air. When you prepare the suicide catch before there is some slack to catch.

The direct untold effect is that you appear confident in your skill.
