I have only made a few ball bearing wooden yoyos, not any metal (doing that in my advanced metals class next semester). I know it seems obvious but measure everything multiple times before you do stuff (may have screwed a couple yoyos up not doing that 
). Don’t rush. If you have the chance have someone else look at your work. They will see flaws that you won’t. Sorry I can’t be more help.
