Takeshi Matsuura is just one of those names in the yo-yo scene that really doesn’t need any introduction. As a repeat World Champion in the 5A division and recently placing 2nd in the 1A division at Worlds, Takeshi is a serious competitor. Isotope 2:
Continuously creating yo-yos designed for pure performance and machined to the highest standards, Turning Point has made a name for themselves as one of the top manufacturers around. Their newest model, The Isotope 2, is everything we expect from Turning Point and then some!
The Turning Point Isotope 2 is the perfectly refined version of their original Isotope, one of the most popular bi-metals they have produced! They gave the Isotope 2 a larger stainless steel weight ring and tweaked the shape to give you an unbelievable weight distribution. The weight rings and modified weight distribution really amp up the rim weight and create a more stable and long spinning yo-yo that moves even faster than the original!
On TPs official website it states the isotope 2 has a diameter of 66.2 mm and the palpitation, one of 56. Are they really that different in size? Who has the correct measurements of dimensions and weight?
I think I’m leaning towards the isotope 2 if the dimensions are the same and the 'tope is lighter and a bit floatier (as long as it still spins just as long, is as stable, and almost as fast as the palpitation)
I dunno, man. Sometimes marketing is just marketing.
Reliable sources have described them as being nearly identical except for the weight. When they say a different weight distribution, they mean a fraction of a gram moved here or there. Not a radical change. To claim it’s faster? Who knows… for some people that means a yoyo with more momentum once you get it up to speed, I guess.
But make no mistake… the lighter yoyo between these two will be more responsive to acceleration (ie. “faster” by most definitions). Don’t let the marketing fool you.
As far as I can see, both yoyos are incredible; possibly the top yoyos of their entire category. It should be a no-brainer: if you don’t have a preference in specs, choose the one with the colour you prefer. If you have a preference in specs, get the lighter or heavier one. Done.
