6061 is not the same everywhere. Just like anything there are tolerances and quality control variances between manufacturers. The different metals that make up the alloy are stated in terms of a range. There is a huge variation in the heat treating process that is stated in the “T” number. As well even if you buy a particular temper, the results vary from company to company (same thing - quality control).
