Welcome to the first ever YoYoExpert Contest.

These "contests" will show up completely sporadically in conjunction with random Chat Quiz Game Show Nights throughout the year just to try and keep things exciting over here.

The first YoYoExpert Forum Contest is kind of interesting so here is how it works.

-------------------------------------------------
THREE PRIZES
Grand Prize: YYJ Axiom
First Runner Up Prize: YYJ Dark Magic
Second Runner Up Prize: YYJ Legacy
-------------------------------------------------
HOW DO YOU GET A CHANCE TO WIN

You may have noticed as you have been going through the "learn" section of YoYoExpert that many of the text descriptions that go along with the videos are garbled or does not match the video.  There is poor sentence structure, misspellings, and just incorrect words in many (if not all) of the videos.

To gain an "entry" into the contest you simply have to make a post replying to this thread with corrections to a specific page.  One page per reply please.

The post with corrections should be formatted as follows:
___________________________________________
http://yoyoexpert.com/learn/004-adjust-yo-yo-string.html

Corrections:
***Type misspelled words or bad sentences or wrong words here***
____________________________________________

OTHER RULES
If you submit a page that another YoYoExpert member finds three or more corrections you missed then they can "steal" your entry - so make sure you are as thorough as can be!  Wink

YoYoExpert forum members are limited to a maximum of fifteen entries (although this rule is subject to change and could be increased) - the contest runs for a week and will end January 16th at midnight Eastern Standard Time.

A drawing will occur taking each entry into account and will randomly award a Grand Prize and the two runner up prizes listed below.  If you have any questions feel free to post here but remember these do not count as entries...

I will make random attempts to organize entries in a reply to this post.

REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN AND LEARN SOMETHING WHILE YOU ARE AT IT!!!   Grin
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

http://yoyoexpert.com/learn/002-basic-five-styles.html

Corrections

Quote
When you go to a yo-yo contest, you're going to see five different styles of yo-yoing. The first style is called single A, or 1A as you'll see it abbreviated at the contest. The whole idea with 1A, is its a sleeping yo-yo, so it spins at the end of the string, like so. With that, you can actually land it into the groove of the string and do some pretty fancy tricks that we're actually going to be teaching you how to do as we progress through these segments. The next style of yo-yoing is called Double A. It requires two Imperial® shaped yo-yos as we talked about before. These are looping yo-yos. A loop is something like this. It comes in and shoots right back out. Double A refers to two yo-yos. When you see people at a contest, they'll actually be doing this with two hands. They'll be doing sleeping tricks as well, like Around the World, all while doing the loops. So this is looping; this is Double A. The next style of yo-yoing is called Triple A. This requires two sleeping yo-yos. With two sleeping yo-yos, you're actually doing string tricks with both hands. It looks something like this. You get one yo-yo sleeping first, then you get your other yo-yo sleeping. Then you bring them up, like so. I'm going to manipulate them both on my string at the same time. So that's Triple A. The next style of yo-yoing is called 4A or off-string. This is actually played with the yo-yo we were talking about before made for off-string, so it's a little more durable. It actually comes off the string. This is isn't connected right now. You can actually whip it onto the string and then recall it back. That's off-string yo-yoing. The last style of yo-yoing is called 5A, which is also known as Freehand or counter-weight. It actually has a counter-weight attached to the end of it, and you do sleeping tricks just like you were in single A, but it's actually not attached. So with that, you can manipulate both the yo-yo and the dice. You can do some pretty cool looking tricks. When you go to a contest those are the five main styles: 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A.

Hope that format of correcting works out. =]

With binding, it's important thing for unresponsive play because it's the only way you're really going to get the yo-yo back to your hand.

It's really important so I dealt with a lot of people that are trying to learn advanced tricks and one of their main problems is that they're just not throwing it hard enough.

Right now not necessarily for using string tricks it looks more like a drive scope just the way it's all shape and everything, but they will spend for incredible long time.

It's really important when you're doing string tricks that you get that strong throw because when you start playing tricks it's going to be a lot easier to maneuver around and do your moves if your yo-yo is continuously spinning the whole way through, so practice that strong throw, get it good and we're going to move onto advanced yo-yo tricks.

OK. You're in the advanced section. That means you don't have to wind your Yo-Yo anymore. It's not as cool to wind your Yo-Yo like this anyways.

What you want to do is you actually start with the Yo-Yo down here, like so. You might see people doing this, even when they're beginners, but it's a good thing to start practicing now. It looks like this - you just spin it up like that and the Yo-Yo’s will shoot back to your hand and that's from not spinning at all.
