1  YoYoExpert Forums / General Yo-Yo Forum / Re: What are the next couple of yoyos you hope to get? on: March 14, 2009, 02:24:22 PM
I just plan on getting a Velocity and a Dark Magic but that's it. After that I'm going to cut back on yoyos for awhile.

Money is tight plus I t-boned a car last night and that's going to cost me.

Thanks Mr. Jackson. Your a very good player and that crack in the face looked like it stung quite a bit.  Cheesy

What was the name of that trick at 2:30. Eye catching.

Both my parents and my sister are workaholics and their ways have been instilled in me. I work at Wal-Mart in the Pet Department and Burger King, where I am a Drive-Through runnin, sud bustin', grease filtering, Whopper making machine.

In my spare time I like to play video games, mostly Action, Shooters, and RPGs.

I like to stay up all night reading manga on the Internet, illegally downloading immense amounts of music all while watching infomercials ( I LOVE infomercials!) and loudly singing along with the eclectic assortment of music videos that accompanies late night television.
Does anyone watch Mad Man or Breaking Bad? I'm quite obsessed at the moment.

Oh, I also quite enjoy picking up women at whenever possible e.g. when I walk out my frontdoor. Nightclubs are like shooting fish in a barrel but I prefer any particular retail because women tend to be much more enjoyable to talk to and it is much easier to find girls who are interesting and cute. I find that any art store, bookstore, or
being at Wal-Mart are the most fun.

Oh and I also like to dance very badly but I always enjoy myself. My breakdance moves have impress only impress those with no skills of their own.

I also like to draw and I was quite into writing graffiti not too long ago. I'm not quite active but I have vandalized quite a few buildings in my day. I ramble often and irrelevantly and I try to read every night before bed. Current reads: The 48 Laws of Power and The Zahir. Both amazing.

Man, no wonder I'm always so freaking tired.

In the case of the Dark Magic, the yo-yo halves can be loosened to a certain extent, thus widening the gap, and the vice versa. Over time though, you'll break in the bearing, aka the lube in the bearing will wear out, and the yo-yo will sleep longer because there is less friction in the bearing without the lube, but the yo-yo will be less responsive.

Velocity and/or Speed Dial would be a good idea, since they can be easily turned from responsive to unresponsive in a twist. THEN don't forget, the other stuff you need...I'd suggest getting Yoyojam thick and thin lube and the most important of all: string. You'll use string reaaaally fast. Most yoyoers buy string in packs of 100, for about $10.
OK, so the DM's gap can be made wider which helps you land string tricks but in order to keep it responsive you have to maintain lubricant. What is the difference between thick and thin lube?

Oh it burrnss usss!!

Anyways, I just started it as well and I was intending to get gloves but I concluded I would rather get adapt to it than be in want of gloves anytime I want to yo for the rest of my days.

Is yo a grammatically correct verb?

Thanks for any insight,
Grammar Freak

What about the legacy? It's 22.50 dollars and it is great for string tricks also the weight on the yoyo (68 grams) will allow great unresponsive play as well as the silicone response system. But it is adjustable so you can adjust to your skill level.

Cheers!

Mark
How does one adjust the response system on a yoyo?
And is unresponsive play a good choice for beginners?

I recommend trying some Polyester. Cotton runs out faster, and also slows down the bearing faster when on the string.

Ok, I've been using the cotton strings I received with my yoyos for the past two days. Approx. 6-8 hours of play and I've noticed a big change in the play. Am I way overdue for a string change?

2) How often does each string type need to be replaced?

3) I have to adjust tension continuously. How does the tension hold up in the 50/50s and poly?

4) I've seen all crazy types of string. I want to get neon green and purple. What site has the best selection?

I apologize for all the questions, but questions are my favorite!

Thank you very much. Now I know the difference between responsive and unresponsive play.
I bought them both from here but Samad had mentioned it.

Thanks

I just received my first two yoyos in the mail today, a FHZ and a YYJ Journey. I started with the Journey but I couldnt recall it back into my hand so I switched to the FH Zero and I got a lot better results. Is it because of the stickers or the different center(bearing?)

I'm still having trouble sleeping past about 15-20 sec. Is there anything I can add to increase the sleep?
And what's the difference between the tracion stickers and silicone rings? (silicone recessed??)

Either way I like the FreeHand Zero.
